Yes - No Recommend drinking this within the next few years, as I feel it is on end of its prime drinking window. 1999 was a cooler vintage for Napa, and congruent with that, I found this Bordeaux blend to be in line more with what I expect from a French Bordeaux. After four hours however, the elements came further most harmoniously. When I initially opened this bottle, the wine presented on the palate as disjointed, and I had feared it was past its prime. Smooth focused mouthfeel, with medium+ to long finish. Medium-bodied, the palate has a lively skip in its step, featuring bags of juicy raspberry and cassis-laced fruit and a refreshing line, supported by ripe. Yet, compared to other cult Napa wines, this price is a relative bargain. Tannins are fine and well integrated, and acidity is balanced well with the fruit. The current Opus One vintage (2015) retails on its website for 350. On the tongue ripe raspberry alongside cassis, tart cherries, white peppercorns, and crushed violets. Aroma is pronounced with lots of fruits and flowers. It's surprisingly easy to approach, and very enjoyable. Also present are juicy dark fruits, crushed stone and delicate floral notes. One of the best Opus I’ve had since the ‘96. On the nose some alcohol is still present, though blowing off over the course of decanting. In the glass this wine is a medium+ intensity ruby.
